BACKGROUND
The Second Vice
President’s Office constitution of 1984, Section 2(39) (1-3), Version 2000
Amendment for purpose of providing the coordination of the functions of The
Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar.
Currently, Office of
The Second Vice President comprises eight Departments, namely, the Department
of Planning, Policy and Research, Department of Administration and Human
Resources, Department of Coordination of Government Affairs, Department for
Disaster Management (was established under Act No: 2 of 2006), Department of
National Festivals and Celebrations, Department of Government Press and
Government Printer, Office of Second Vice President in Pemba, and Private
Office of the OSVP. The Office of the Second Vice President also coordinates of
the House of Representatives and Zanzibar Electoral Commission (ZEC).
